Fading NYC: Mars Bar is closing

You know what? I did live a block from Mars Bar, but never went there... This was more than 10 years ago and the area was very dangerous and dingy.
Now Bowery is becoming super gentrified (Whole Foods anyone?) and the rough character of this area is vanishing...

So, on a summer weekend day, I was passing by with my husband and decided to drag him in there before the place is completely demolished.

 

 I was kind of afraid of touching ANYTHING! LOL! But a bottled beer couldn't hurt...
