My Love Affair with Edward Hopper

Quite a blog title, no?
Well, just sayin' that I love Edward Hopper the artist.
And I am not alone.

Loved him even more after going to see his exhibit at the Whitney Museum this past weekend - alas the last weekend of the exhibit.

SO great to be able to see such beautiful things gathered in one place. Also SO AWESOME that the Whitney has a WONDERFUL policy of letting people take as MANY PICTURES (without flash) as they wanted!!!!

So Lulu went to work and took a multitude of pictures at her heart's content! SO HAPPY!!!!

The great thing about this exhibit is that you can see the studies, the drawings and the processes that Hopper went through before committing his art to the canvas.

Absolutely fabulous to be able to see this.

So let's go to the pictures Lulu took!!!!!

A Hopper selfie before smartphones, Instagram and Facebook were invented ;-)

Early Sunday Morning: one of my favorites!!!! And it is resting on HIS easel!

Of course Lulu could not avoid a selfie with this... HAHA

ONE OF MY FAVES EVER: Nighthawks!!!

Soir Bleu - also a favorite! Gorgeous in person

His caricatures of Parisians are not that well known and are fantastic

Hopper in Paris: I am so used to seeing his American landscapes, that I really did not know that he portrayed Paris so beautifully. I fell in love even more.

Now here we go: the Americana we are used to!

Look at the amount of thought that went into his paintings.

Naughty Hopper !

I sincerely thought that this painting was larger, but it is more gorgeous in person ;-)

O hello, Mr. Hopper!!!

I took a day off from work to see this exhibit, so we went early to the Whitney. Good thing, because we barely got a line.

Now look at the line when we left! Serendipity!!!
