My Phillip Lim for Target Haul / Review!!!!

------

Yeah took me some time to post my review of the items I've received because dear Tar-jay too loong to deliver!

I've placed an order on September 15th (floral blouse and Boom scarf), before everything was sold out. I ended up receiving the items only on September 23rd... I guess Target was overwhelmed...

The items I really wanted: navy tuxedo and animal print scarf were already gone by the launch day's afternoon... But I'VE MANAGED TO SNAG THEM! Will tell you later about them...

For now, I am just recapping the items I do have in hand.

This was my haul (not complete yet - one more is coming to me):

Yay, so happy I did snag those!!!!

Let's go to the reviews now!

The Boom scarf is totally awesome! It is whimsical, very graphic and huge!

The quality is also great for the price! Very unique and I am happy I was able to buy it directly from Target before it was gone.
I can use it in a myriad of ways.

GOOD SCORE LULU!!!

Now, to the flower blouse. I had some doubts about this one.
The print was kind of weird online and my husband did not really like this.

Let me tell you: it is AWESOME IN PERSON! I am loving this!
The print is much better than I saw on their site and it has a great shoulder detail.
The shirt is well constructed and runs big. This is a small, but is kind of long so you can wear it with some skinny pants or tucked in. A bit sheer, have to wear a camisole underneath.

LOVED it and even the hubby had to agree that this looks totally AMAZE!

Well, and then there is the animal print scarf. I am in love with that too!!! You can see the review in my previous post here. That one was a Ebay purchase, but, as I've said, I did not pay that much more for it than I would at target.com! So a win for me.

I am loving everything, but I am never satisfied until I get everything I wanted!!!!
I know, it is terrible, but I was not content until I've managed to snag the piece that I was craving since the beginning...

And that is the Phillip Lim navy tuxedo!!!

That was gone on September 15th, by the time I woke up (I was up until 3:30am and nada).

So, I was stalking the VERY few pieces that were available at Ebay and managed to score one in medium for 20 bucks more than the store!!!!

Not bad, huh?

So, after this arrives to me, I will have my private Phillip Lim collection complete!!! I did not care that much about the purses like everyone else. I do prefer to carry the high end ones I have, such as LV, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, etc.

So lookie lookie at my collection:

Cannot wait to put my hands on this tuxedo blazer!!!

Ok, now the Limsanity can rest... And I will enjoy my pieces and wear them for years to come ;-)

My Phillip Lim for Target Animal Print Scarf Review

___

Probably you've heard (or not) about the Linsanity about Phillip Lim's Target collaboration collection.
You can read about my post here.

Well, if you can believe, I did buy the animal print scarf on Ebay, since it was sold out just after a few hours after the online release...

I was so bummed, because I did like the distinctive print (for a scarf) and happened to go to Ebay on Monday, a day after the collection launch.
A ton of people were offering the scarf, sometimes without a crazy markup (this did not happen with the Missoni ones - they were super expensive on Ebay).

Just bid and sat back. My max bid was $30 (10 bucks more than the store price of $19.99).
Annnd guess what! I did win it for $27 bucks! With FREE shipping!!!! This person made almost no profit with the sale!!!!

See? this should teach those greedy people a lesson!

Bought it on Monday, paid it and received it the comfort of my home on Thursday!!! BEFORE my Target order with some other items (this will be another post ;-)

The scarf is WONDERFUL!!!

Huge, good quality , a bit wrinkled, but generally awesome!

The print looks better in person. It did look a bit "Flintstones" when I saw it the first time, but it is great for a scarf. Adds the right punch. I don't really know about the sweater and the skirt. Those could be too much...

Anyway, I am loving it and of course Lulu went to work with it!!!

So, a winner, right?

Cannot wait for my other scarf (the "Boom" one) and the printed shirt!!!

Will update as soon as possible!!!

Ciao!!!

Another Target Collaboration Madness: Phillip Lim!

____

Yeah, I am a victim of those campaigns, hoopla, madness, that MAKE you want to get more things that you don't really need...

Another example is the crazy buildup for the Phillip Lim collection at Target...

I was a victim in the past, or a victor, you can say... I did score some great things (not all of the ones I wanted) during the craziness of the Missoni Target collection.

Now it was for Phillip Lim, a fashion darling that is not yet a fashion name that my husband would recognize: "Phillip who? Never heard of him"!

Well, if you like fashion a little bit, you would know him...

Same with Prabal Gurung (although his target line was a bit more subdued in terms of madness).

Anyway, back to this Target craziness.

Seriously Target, you advertise like crazy that the collection will be available on September 15th... You can barely wait for the day, and when it arrives... FRUSTRATION!!!

Lulu went to bed after 3AM!!! Waiting and waiting and NOTHING ONLINE on the wee hours of September 15th!!!!

$%#@$^$^&* !!!!!!!

Since it was a Sunday, I did oversleep (since is was WAITING for this damn line to appear at target.com) and then THE STUFF I WANTED WAS SOLD-OUT!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRR

This is what I wanted:

 Cute tuxedo blazer for $55

Crazy animal print (actually what animal has those spots? LOL) for $20... My husband said that this looks like a Flintstones print! LOL, he should be a fashion critic ;-)

SO PEOPLE. I WENT TO SLEEP AT 3AM, AND WHEN I WOKE UP AFTER 11AM ON A SUNDAY, THESE ITEMS WERE SOLD OUT. In the space of a few HOURS. Not fair.

I am so pissed that I did wait for so long and NADA!!!!

Of course I had to go on plan B mode and snag whatever I could.

So this is what Lulu got:

It is cute and has a very distinctive print. Of course I got small this time... The Prabal shirt I got before was a medium and I am swimming in it...

Also OF COURSE, size small was GONE after a few hours.

This is a cute look that I will try with one of my skirts:

Then I moved on to this:

Since the "animal" print scarf was gone, I've snagged the next best thing: this cartoonish BOOM one.

Not my first choice, but cute anyway. Especially when you wrap it around your neck.

AAAAAAND, IT WAS ALSO GONE after I bought it!

One thing that really pisses me off are those Ebay vultures. They buy like everything and sell with a crazy margin. Should be against the law... But whatever.

Ended up getting cute things for less than $60.

Let's see if I really love them when I get them... Or then they will find their way to Ebay... Just kidding!!!

UPDATE!!!!

Just chanced to go to Ebay (I will be damned!) and SCORED the leopard scarf for $27 with shipping included!!!
So, this person made like the staggering amount of EIGHT bucks profit on the scarf from the original $19.99!!!! I would have paid the same with the Target shipping!!!!
Actually NOT even 8 bucks - the poor soul had to get the scarf, pay Ebay, pay Paypal AND ship it!!!

LOL

I was not even planning to get it!!! But I accidentally did!!!

YAY

So, of all the picks (above), I did manage to score 2!!!

My Italian Micro Mosaic Necklace!

___

Had a blast this past weekend! In addition to my new American Apothecary new t-shirt, I've managed to score a really cute Italian micro mosaic also at Artists & Fleas in my dear Williamsburg!

Isn't that pretty? So antique looking and goes perfectly with my new t-shirts!!!

I am in love!!!!

A little background on micro mosaic jewelry (from our dear Wikipedia ;-) :

Micromosaic jewelry
Wearing micromosaic jewelry became popular during the Grand Tour period (17th - 19th Century). Members of rich European families would travel around Europe, taking in the sights and cultures of different countries. Italy was a very popular tourist spot as it had a long and prestigious history in arts and culture - a favourite subject in aristocratic circles. It was also a famous glass producer, and canny Italian craftsmen quickly turned their glass making skills to making stunning miniature micromosaic pictures for their rich visitors.
Mosaic work jewellery of this period usually depicted famous Italian landmarks such as the Coliseum and Vatican Square, though occasionally Roman mythology was a subject too. The richest tourists would commission their own mosaics, with animals and famous works of art being favourite subjects. The small size of the micromosaic was appealing; micro mosaics could be worn on the Grand Tourists continuing journey, or sent back home to loved ones as a kind of fore-runner to our modern postcards.[7]

Another American Apothecary Beauty!!!!

____

A couple of weekends ago, we've stumbled upon Artists and Fleas in Williamsburg.

As you can see from my previous post, I did LOOVE almost everything there, but more especially American Apothecary and their fab t-shirts!

I did buy the Absinthe and wore it for the first time last Saturday.

Well, the t-shirt is kinda blocked by my beer (LOL), but cute nevertheless!!!

This past weekend I had to return there and get the red "Papine" art nouveau t-shirt!

Sooooo cool!
I love the Art-Nouveau flowers wrapping all over the shirt. Love the color, love everything!
And for $35, what is not to like?

It came in this cool box:

This is my collection!!!!

Will try to remember to take a better shot wearing them!

Till then!!!

A beautiful skirt for.... TWO dollars!!!!

_____

Could not believe this deal!!!!

Do you know how much I paid for this skirt????

Well, if you read this post's title... TWO bucks!!!!

I will explain...

The full price was like $50.
40% off: 29
Lulu had a coupon earned at e-rewards (for answering to some online research questionnaires) worth $25...
And since the skirt had a minor defect: the thread came undone below the zipper - super easy to fix! And since this one was the last one my size - and the defect is super easy to fix) they gave me an extra 10% off!!!

So paid only TWO dollars!!!!

Yay!!!! So cute for the fall!!!

So. I did try Kate Middleton's dress at Banana Republic!

____

This one was weird...

Banana Republic did launch an Issa capsule collection. Basically trying to capitalize on this brand that has some success because of that famous blue engagement dress!

Issa was a British brand created by a Brazilian girl (like me!) called Danielle Helayal. But Danielle has just sold the label to Camilla Al Fayed (daughter of the infamous Mohamed)... Tense, but this is another story...

Anyway, wanted to give a shot to trying a dress that became so famous...

And... It was a major disappointment!
I thought that this dress would be sold out in minutes, but no. After more than a month, all the sizes were still available at Banana Republic.
It was not a Kate worthy dress at all!!!

First, it had crazy long ties that you had to wrap several times around your waist. The base of the ties were also weird (almost like a ring under your chest).
And, what really was a deal breaker is that the fabric looked and felt cheap. Not only that: it was SO WRINKLED I could not make myself buy it and have to iron it all the time (what's an iron anyway? LOL)

And it was not a super cheap H&M style dress: it did cost $130 bucks.
I was very disappointed. Thought it over for a while and said goodbye.
Definitively not worth it.
I wish Banana Republic could have created the dress in a wrinkle resistant jersey and the ties were smaller.

Oh well. At least I tried...

Another day at Williamsburg, another surprise!

____

Williamsburg, NY never ceases to surprise me!

On our way to our fave Mexican Brunch at La Esquina at Wythe Dinner, we got lost and stumbled upon 2 things that I've heard about and never saw before!

We've finally found the site of the Smorgasburg and the artsy market called Artists and Fleas !

So many cool things there! I wanted to buy almost everything! Ended up settling on a really cool t-shirt from American Apothecary!

This brand was so me! Not that I am on drugs or anything (LOL), but because of the old advertisements/labels. A Victorian "medicine" fest in every shirt!
Almost could not decide on just one!

Ended up getting this:

And then, did some "art" with that shot - gathering some of my "apothecary" old bottles ;-)

This is how the other shirts look like (mine is there too!):

And this is the girl who sold me the shirt:

Just love the aesthetics!

Williamsburg is soooo cool! So me!

Cannot wait to go back there for Smorgasburg, but this is for another story!
